Mezo Noir, one of Kampala’s favourite hangout spots, is under scrutiny due to poisoning allegations. The Uganda police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a city socialite named Martha at Mezo Noir in Kololo. Eyewitnesses confirmed to our editors that Martha (RIP) arrived at the bar to see her boyfriend, who works there, at around 5 am. By 6 am, one of the workers alerted the bar manager that a lady had collapsed and required assistance. The manager quickly took her to International Hospital Kampala (IHK), where she was pronounced dead on arrival. According to the post-mortem report provided by IHK, the hospital found substances in her body that are suspected to be poison. Police have since arrested both the boyfriend and the manager of the hangout spot. Jinja Road police and the Kira Division police are detaining the manager. It remains unclear whether the lady was poisoned at Mezo Noir or if she was poisoned before arriving at the hangout spot.
The management of the hangout spot is now under serious investigation after post-mortem reports indicated that the lady had ingested harmful substances. We will provide more details on the matter as the police conclude their investigations.
