Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu, the leader of the national Unity platform, said in a press conference that the party will shortly commence a nationwide fundraising drive to raise funds for the party’s participation in the 2026 general election. The national Unity platform has attempted to collect money from its followers multiple times in recent years, but there has been no accountability. In August 2020, ahead of the 2021 general elections, the NUP launched the “MUDA KU MUDA @10k WE CAN” campaign. No one knows how much was collected or what it was used for.
Our sources at kavule can corroborate that the party has recently been struggling financially, particularly since the shutdown of USAID, through which the majority of the money they received from some of their international backers was funnelled. Some US-based financing groups and lobbyists faced a similar issue as a result of Trump’s proposals. The party hopes to gather 2 trillion Ugandan shillings and will present a certificate to everybody who contributes to their cause.

Bobi Wine believes that the only money the party can use right now is from the government’s Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD). Our sources further suggest that Chairman Fred Nyanzi SSentamu and Aisha Kabanda will be in charge of this mobilisation.
