Lionel Richie To Perform In Uganda.

Lionel Richie born Lionel Brockman Richie Jr. (76) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and television personality is set to perform in Uganda mid this year 2025. He rose to fame in the 1970s as a songwriter and the co-lead singer of the Motown group commodores writing and recording the hit singles “Easy“, “Sail On“, “Three Times a Lady“, and “Still“.

The concert scheduled for June was announced by the Hon Minister of Justice & Constitutional affairs Nobert Mao. According to the event planner, the event will take place in Gulu Northern Uganda at Kaunda grounds. The “stuck on you” star has been to Africa before but it will be his first time in the pearl of Africa Uganda. Northern Uganda has been making headlines for the past 3 years for shipping in international artists with the likes of Fally Ipupa (Congo/France), Rudeboy (Nigeria), Harmonize (Tanzania) among others. This has changed the trend of things where artists of this magnitude only used to perform in Kampala. With such a concert looming, we could see most of Kampala’s top socialites flocking Northern Uganda for such concerts.

According to some sources, the concert is a climate change campaign sponsored by the Nelson Mandela foundation to bring awareness to Africans about the effects of climate change but also to inspire young creatives on the need to preach the message of climate change.
