The Uganda electoral commission successful conducted presidential nominations on the 23rd and 24th september 20225. By closure time, 8 candidates had been confirmed to run for presidency and they include Yoweri kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa, Robert kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Elton Joseph mabirizi, Robert kasibante, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Mugisha Muntu, Munyagwa Mubarak Sserunga and Bulira Frank Kabinga.The final shortlist comes from a total of 220 candidates who expressed interest by picking nomination forms. Of these, only 38 returned the forms and only 8 made it to the final list.
Among the 8 presidential candiates, 2 candidates have so far held rallies, H.E kaguta Museveni at Kololo independence grounds, the biggest open space in kampala and Bobi wine at a pitch in Natete. From these rallies, political analysts have so far drawn lines and conclusions about how the political campaign scene in likely to unfold. Museveni gathered close to a million people in kololo and Bobi wine gathered thousands as well on his way to Natete.
with all this happening, online polls have been conducted with one done by NBS television journalist Canary Mugume where more than 70,000 people voted putting the incumbet kaguta museveni in a 51% early lead.
Another one conducted by NUP updates pages where close to 20,000 people voted also put Museveni in a 55.4% lead. Remember, people
are just expressing their opinions o
n a condition that if elections were to be conducted today.
