The Ugandan brewer behind the iconic Nile Special is again grabbing headlines for the wrong reasons just after the recent High Court ruling in favour of URA, ordering them to pay a whooping UGX 18.5BN for tax evasion.

More trouble is brewing after the revelation that Nile Breweries Limited has dragged a supplier and former employees to court over alleged fraudulent activities that have caused them financial loss of UGX 8.9BN.

This follows persistent internal problems that the Brazilian Managing Director Adu Rando has been trying to cover up, such as the recent controversy over the hiring of a one Wangechi Gitahi into the country head of marketing role despite a background of fraud that has now exposed the Human Resource Manager, Martha Nalubega, who allegedly took a bribe to conceal the matter and complete Wangechi’s recruitment process.

Reliable sources have now brought to light more of Martha Nalubega’s unethical track record which the MD, Adu Rando was made aware of but opted to take no action. Aggrieved employees who had hoped the MD would swing into action were disappointed with the speculation that the boss was distracted by the hefty URA bill that now has to be paid.

A group of employees have now vowed to leak to the public more of the Country People Lead’s unfair activities including nepotism with secret employee whatsapp groups quietly sharing the details.

Some of the complaints this website has seen allege that Martha Nalubega hired her sister, Jael Nakalema as an HR casual and paid her well above many permanent employees and went ahead to grant access to the company medical scheme which is generally denied to contractors.

The aggrieved employees also reportedly whisper in the corridors about Ms Nalubega supplying the brewery and head office with cakes baked by her own company. This follows months ago when workmates were grilled about their side hustles. They wondered why they get grilled yet the HR flouts Nile Breweries company policy that requires an employee to declare any business interests outside the brewery.

A source at the Luzira based entity confirmed that a few months ago, a few fed up employees complained through the formal company compliance channel but the powerful HR administrator emerged unscathed promoting rumours of a tight bond between the Nalubega and the Managing Director. It is reported that frustrated employees now look back at the good old times under David Valencia. The Colombian former Managing Director had managed to position Nile Breweries as a beacon of Excellence with a strong market position
