Get ready for this, it is going to be a long one, but take heart and read to the end.
As elections approach, opposition politicians often make persuasive and exciting statements or take actions that usually land their supporters in trouble, just like it was in 2020 before the 2021 elections. Already, we are seeing similar patterns that could trap unsuspecting and gullible people.
To help you stay informed, we will be publishing the wealth of each of your bosses in a series, the wealth they acquire through vice, well sought at your expense. The goal is simple, we want you to know exactly what your bosses own and acquire at your expense before you risk your life and end up in prison.
The truth is, that you are being used as bait so they can accumulate wealth while you suffer in jail. Look at that image and see where you stand. That guy has never been in jail, but look at what he owns.
Like the legendary politician Bidandi Sali said in “OyinaKewekoledde” Do you have children? Do you plan to have them? Will they attend the same schools as your bosses’ kids while you rot in prison? Do you have a wife? Does she drive a car like theirs? Before they lure you into prison, will you leave her behind for them to enjoy? What do you have or expect to gain from prison?
To convince you further, they often compare their struggle to M7’s time in the Luweero bush. But before M7 led his team to the bush, he held key government positions, such as vice president, minister of defense, and more. He, too, could have chosen to enjoy wealth while his people suffered, but he gave it all up to liberate the country.
Now, compare that to your bosses. Look at the wealth they enjoy, as shown in that image, and ask yourself what exactly they liberate you from, or is it just themselves?
They hold positions of responsibility in government, MPs, LCV chairpersons, councilors, etc. Instead of leading you into subversive activities that would land you in prison, they should be showing you how to build wealth, even if on a smaller scale. They mislead you, blame the government, and then profit from Western support, enriching themselves while you suffer in jail.
Did you know that the government, through the EC, pays political parties money? NUP alone receives a whopping 5.3 billion annually. What is your share of this lot? Nothing. It all goes to the top bosses while you rot in prison. None of their children or close friends is in jail, yet they have grown children who could join or lead the struggle. Instead, their kids are abroad, living comfortably at your expense. But they dare to call upon you to lead or join the gangs (egaali) and insurrect against the state, well knowing how it will all end.
When M7 decided to fight, he called on his brothers, nephews, close relatives, and friends, people like Salim Saleh, Sam Black, and others, many of whom died in the struggle. If his son had been of age, like theirs, I am sure he would have called upon him to join. Indeed, when MK came of age, he enrolled him into the army. But now, look at your bosses. Where are their children, brothers, or close friends, are they in prison? They are pushing you to sacrifice yourself so they can prosper.
To be clear, I am not asking you to join NRM. You may have your reasons, which I respect. But as a fellow citizen, I urge you to practice politics safely and lawfully. Avoid unnecessary clashes with the state that could land you in avoidable trouble.
